How To Make Your Own Tartare Sauce

April 13, by Shellie Wilson. Leave a Comment

As someone who loves to cook, one of my favorite things to do is experiment with different sauces to accompany my dishes. And one sauce that always seems to be a hit with my friends and family is tartare sauce. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also incredibly versatile and can be served with a variety of dishes. In this article, I’ll be sharing my favorite recipe for tartare sauce, as well as some tips on what foods it goes well with.

Before we dive into the recipe, let’s talk about what tartare sauce is. Tartare sauce is a cold, creamy sauce that is typically made with mayonnaise, pickles, capers, and herbs. It’s commonly used as a condiment for fish and seafood, but it can also be served with other dishes like chicken, steak, and even vegetables.

Now, let’s get to the recipe!

Tartare Sauce Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons chopped pickles
2 tablespoons capers, drained and chopped
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard until smooth.
Add the chopped pickles, capers, parsley, dill, and chives, and stir to combine.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Now that you have your tartare sauce ready, let’s talk about what foods it goes well with. As I mentioned earlier, tartare sauce is commonly served with fish and seafood. It’s especially delicious with fried fish, like battered haddock. Here’s a recipe for deep-fried and battered haddock to enjoy with the tartare sauce.

Deep-Fried and Battered Haddock Recipe:

Ingredients:

4 haddock fillets
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup milk
1 egg
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
Dip each haddock fillet into the milk mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F.
Working in batches, fry the haddock fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Serve hot with the tartare sauce on the side.
There you have it – a delicious recipe for tartare sauce and deep-fried and battered haddock to enjoy it with. Whether you’re having a casual family dinner or hosting a fancy dinner party, this dish is sure to impress. And if you have any leftovers, you can always use the tartare sauce as a dip for veggies or as a spread for sandwiches.

Making tartare sauce is easy, and it’s a great way to elevate your dishes to the next level. It’s creamy, tangy, and full of flavor, making it the perfect complement to a variety of foods. So the next time you’re in the mood for something delicious, give this recipe a try – I promise you won’t be disappointed!
