You’ll not only be supplying much-needed vegetables, but you’ll also be lessening your host’s load.

My family is always huge and always hungry for Christmas dinner. In previous years, I’ve witnessed our host become agitated as the night progressed and the food ran out. This year, I decided to take matters into my own hands and bring a salad to contribute.

Crispy Bacon Pasta Salad with Fresh Herbs from How Sweet Eats

I have a pasta salad recipe that everyone loves. They always ask me for the recipe, but I never give it to them. It’s my little secret.

I remember the first time I took it to a cookout. I was a little nervous, because I didn’t know how it would be received. But everyone loved it! They went back for seconds and thirds. And they all wanted the recipe.

I was so proud of my pasta salad. It was like my little baby, and I had created something that everyone loved. It was a great feeling.

Now, every time I make it, I think of that first cookout and how amazing it felt to see everyone enjoying my food. It’s always a special moment when I can share my pasta salad with others and see them enjoy it as much as I do.

Need a nice Alfredo Sauce? Here is my own Alfredo sauce recipe, perfect for pasta salad too.

How to make Alfredo pasta sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups (480ml) heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups (150g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Chopped parsley or basil for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Melt Butter and Sauté Garlic:
    • In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to let the garlic burn.
  2. Add Heavy Cream:
    • Pour the heavy cream into the skillet with the melted butter and garlic.
    • Stir the mixture gently and let it simmer over medium-low heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it starts to thicken slightly.
  3. Add Parmesan Cheese:
    • Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese to the cream mixture, stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
    • Continue to cook the sauce for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired consistency. If the sauce becomes too thick, you can add a little more cream to thin it out.
  4. Season and Serve:
    • Taste the sauce and season with salt and pepper according to your preference. Remember that Parmesan cheese is already salty, so you may not need much additional salt.
    • Once the sauce is seasoned to your liking and has reached the desired consistency, remove it from the heat.
    • Serve the Alfredo sauce immediately over cooked pasta of your choice, such as fettuccine, linguine, or spaghetti.
    • Garnish with chopped parsley or basil if desired, and serve hot.

Enjoy your delicious homemade Alfredo pasta with this creamy and indulgent sauce!
