How To Make Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs

February 8, 2021 by Shellie Wilson

Come on, surely you’ve heard of the trending delicious Hot Chocolate Cocoa Bombs! If you haven’t then, hot chocolate bombs are a chocolate ball with other add-ons in it that dissolves when you drop it in your hot chocolate.

Essentially, they are hollow chocolate spheres filled with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows. When hot milk is poured over the chocolate bomb, it melts and releases the cocoa mix and marshmallows, creating a delicious and fun drink experience.

For Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs, you can use Easter-themed chocolate molds to create chocolate spheres in the shape of eggs or bunnies. You can also add colorful sprinkles or other decorations to make them even more festive. These hot chocolate bombs make a great Easter treat or gift for friends and family.

Hot chocolate bombs are like a little surprise in your mug! And that is perfect for Easter time, I think! Wouldn’t you agree? Try this recipe and find out.

These would make wonderful gifts for Easter time, something a little new, something other than Easter eggs.

(side note, did you know the best hot chocolate in town is Ghirardelli)

Ingredients

1 Cup white melting wafers

8 Tbsp hot chocolate mix

Mini marshmallows

Small amount of white or chocolate melting wafers to drizzle ( I used white)

Pink and Green Candy Grass

Candy Bunnies for garnish

Additional Supplies: Chocolate mold (silicone tray)

Check out our Chocolate Bomb molds in our online store.

**Makes 3 bombs

Instructions

Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir well and heat again for another 30 seconds. Repeat until the melting wafers are completely melted. Be careful – do not overcook the chocolate.

Add 2 tablespoons of chocolate to each mold. Make sure to completely cover the molds by using the back of the spoon to spread. Be certain to spread the chocolate evenly all the way up to the edges.

Place the mold in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. You want your chocolate to be completely frozen.

Carefully remove the chocolate half-spheres from the mold and place them on a baking sheet.

Fill 3 of the half-spheres with hot chocolate mix. Add a few mini marshmallows into each of the half-spheres.

Warm-up an empty plate by putting it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Place one of the empty chocolate sides on the warm plate to slightly melt the edges then quickly place it on top of the other side already filled with hot chocolate mix.  Repeat for the remaining pieces. You can use a bit of extra melted chocolate to “glue” the sides together if you need to.

Melt the white chocolate (or chocolate) in the microwave for 30 seconds or until melted and drizzle it on the chocolate bombs.

Garnish with the candy grass and one bunny.

To Serve

Heat 1 cup milk in microwave or saucepan until hot. Place one hot chocolate bomb in a mug and slowly pour the milk over the top of the hot chocolate bomb. As the chocolate melts, it will open revealing the hot chocolate mix and the marshmallows. Stir and enjoy.
