Turkish Delight Dessert Cocktail Recipe – A Sweet Sip of Nostalgia

April 27, 2026 by Shellie Wilson

Every family has “that” Christmas treat. You know the one—always gifted, always assumed to be your favourite, and always appearing under the tree or tucked into hampers. For us, it’s Turkish Delight chocolates. Somewhere along the line, someone decided we loved them, and every year without fail, they arrive.

Now here’s the truth: I don’t actually dislike Turkish Delight, but I’ve never been its biggest fan either. I’d nibble politely, pop the lid back on the box, and leave the rest untouched. But as it turns out, my daughter adores them. Suddenly, what once felt like an obligatory sweet has become her holiday obsession. She claims every box, every chocolate, every little pink square.

And so, inspired by her love of those rose-scented confections, I decided to create something new this year: a Turkish Delight Dessert Cocktail. It’s pretty, it’s indulgent, and it’s the perfect grown-up twist on a childhood treat. Plus, if it lures her home for the holidays, that’s a win in my book!

What Makes This Cocktail Special

  • Pretty in Pink: With its rosy hue and cube of Turkish Delight perched on the rim, it looks like it belongs at a celebration.

  • Creamy & Dreamy: The cream base gives it a luscious dessert-like texture.

  • Balanced Flavours: The floral rosewater and grenadine are softened by chocolate liqueur and vodka, creating a sip that’s sweet but not overpowering.

  • Easy to Make: Just shake, strain, and serve.

Ingredients (per cocktail)

  • 30ml crème de cacao (chocolate liqueur)

  • 30ml vodka (plain or vanilla for extra sweetness)

  • 20ml grenadine (for colour and light sweetness)

  • 15ml rosewater syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 60ml cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)

  • Ice cubes

Optional Garnishes:

  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa dusting

  • Crushed pistachios on the rim

  • A cube of Turkish Delight candy for the glass

Method

Step 1 – Rim the glass:
Chill a coupe or martini glass. For a festive touch, dip the rim in a little rosewater syrup, then roll in finely crushed pistachios.

Step 2 – Shake it up:
Add crème de cacao, vodka, grenadine, rosewater syrup, and cream to a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake hard until the mixture is frothy and chilled.

Step 3 – Pour & garnish:
Strain into your prepared glass. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings or perch a cube of Turkish Delight on the rim.

Variations to Try

  • Dark & Decadent: Swap the crème de cacao for dark chocolate liqueur for a richer depth of flavour.

  • Nutty Twist: Add a splash of amaretto or pistachio liqueur for a nut-forward version.

  • Mocktail Version: Skip the vodka and liqueur, and instead use a splash of chocolate syrup and cream soda for a sweet, alcohol-free treat.

When to Serve It

This dessert cocktail is perfect for:

  • Holiday dinners (imagine serving this after Christmas lunch)

  • Valentine’s Day (it’s pink, it’s romantic, and it’s chocolatey—tick, tick, tick)

  • Girls’ nights in (served with actual Turkish Delight on the side)

  • As a cheeky dessert replacement when you’d rather drink your pudding

This Turkish Delight Dessert Cocktail is my little love letter to the tradition I never asked for but somehow ended up cherishing. Because while I might not crave Turkish Delight on its own, in cocktail form? I’ll happily sip one alongside my daughter as we laugh, unwrap presents, and soak up another holiday together.
