OK folks, I’m making an exception to the rules of Edible Crafts today. I rarely post on recipes that aren’t “crafty” (which means no matter how great your pumpkin pie or stuffing or plum pudding or cornbread is, it’s not likely to end up here, it just doesn’t fit my category), but this is one of those rare moments where I thought you fellow bakers and cooks or not so often cooks who are terrified to host their first Thanksgiving might like a few links. The internet is awash with recipes. So awash that it overwhelms me and I just don’t know which of the millions of how-tos for roasting turkey will be the best. (NOTE: For the jillions of ways to roast a turkey, I think it always ends up pretty much the same, so don’t agonize over this.) Here are a few good links that will serve as my go-tos this year:
1. iVillage has a spread for first-time cooks. (photo from iVillage)
2. I love Chow for everything, classic, vegetarian, you name it, they have it Thanksgiving.
3. Real Simple keeps it real. And simple.
4. Better Homes and Gardens has loads of info and alternative recipes.
5. epicurious is another of my go-to resources.
6. Can’t go wrong with Martha for everything.
7. Finally, I’ve never tried this before, but as making mashed potatoes is such a time-waster and chore on Thanksgiving Day, this year I’m so so trying this method for make-ahead mashed potatoes from the Pioneer Woman.
