There are so many cool gadgets out there in the world of edible crafts. In case you’ve not found Fred yet, Fred and Friends is an online store that mines the world for uniquely fabulous products. Their “Peace of Cake” silicone mold makes peace sign-shaped cakes. As a bonus, they say a portion of the proceeds go to human rights and conflict resolution organizations. No specifics as to which ones, but I’ll trust Fred. Click on the link here to find the indie stores where you can buy Fred products.
Play Tic Tac Toast and find other fun toys for the foodie at “Perpetual Kid.” Lego utensils, bacon n’ egg bandaids, toast tattoos, fairy wand ice cube trays, cocktail chemistry sets… Even a gadget to light up the water from your faucet (red for hot, blue for cold, of course).
Also, a ridiculous number of funky wares can be found at Urban Trend, such as this gun egg fryer (I’m a pacifist, but it was so odd and juxtaposed so nicely against the Peace Cake mold, that I thought I’d include it). This consumer development company designs innovative products, and not all of the items are available for purchase (yet?). Still, fun to look through, and they do have an online store for some items and contact information.
