Ann Smith of Oh, Fudge! Is so busy that even reading about all she does exhausts me!
Besides working in the mornings in the kitchen of a near by school, her other part time job as a research assistant, and making her wonderful soaps and lotions, which she sells on her Etsy shop, Woodwize Body Solutions, Ann started selling her homemade fudge last year on ebay. (You can find her fudge in her Etsy shop).
Ann is a one woman show, making, packaging, and marketing her fudge, although sometimes she will recruit the help of one of her kids if she runs into a pinch with her many orders.
“All my fudge is made on the stove top and is hand stirred in small batches. Although my batches are starting to get bigger!” explains Ann, “My best selling fudges are white chocolate and old fashioned chocolate. I also sell a lot of penuche. I started making Scottish Tablet and that is also doing quite well”.
Ann takes a lot of pride and care when making her fudge. She has great tasting recipes and is constantly adding new flavors, she is now up to about 15 different varieties!
Ann started out by making penuche at home for her family. Her kids thought it was so good that they suggested that she sell it on ebay, and they were right! She has always loved penuche fudge and she fondly remembers her grandma making it when she was a child. “It was always a treat when she would make it, and it has remained my favorite type of fudge” reminiscences Ann, ” I came across a recipe for penuche that used cream instead of milk and it just seemed like it would be good. It was the best!!”
Ann has also participated in craft shows for about 7 years. She loves interacting with her customers. “It is very rewarding to hear comments from people about how great my soap smells and how good my fudge is. I give out samples of fudge and love to hear that m-m-m-m! It gives me encouragement that I have quality products that people want and are willing to pay for that ‘quality'”.
Feedback on her online sites is always really good. So, I guess the proof is in the pudding – or rather, the fudge.
