I do believe the Food and Drug Administration, considering a redesign of the food labels found on food in the US, would benefit from checking out the submissions to the redesign the food label contest hosted by Good. The results are pretty dang impressive, with particular attention paid to conveying clear, easy-to-grasp-in-a-glance, graphics. Check out the finalists HERE. Shown are submissions by Melissa Messer and Chris Sensat, William Hilson and Corinne Pritchard.

Oooooo…yes! I’d be happy with just having a 100g equivalent for comparison (as other countries do) but showing me the miles and more info like that would make me SO HAPPY.
Also? Not going to happen. Have you read Food Politics by Marion Nestle? The USDA exists to serve the industry, not us. The bickering history she presents of the food pyramid alone will depress you into needing to bury your face into a big fat brownie. *sigh*
