Have you ever even thought to make homemade conversation heart candies ? The addition of Sprite in these is pure genius, too. Find the recipe HERE at Serious Eats, courtesy of Brave Tart.

This is great and I am going to make these but I don’t see in the recipe where to use the salt and it just says “1/4salt” in the ingredient list – I know you say to measure so can I assume you mean 1/4 oz.? Can you e-mail me the correction? My daughter is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts and this year, for the first time, she cannot have the NECCO conversation hearts. This recipe will help!!

Hi Beth! Ha, I didn’t even notice that! Though I didn’t create the recipe, I’m just the messenger 🙂 . If you click the link, I’d leave the same comment at the Serious Eats site, or visit the link to Bravetart and ask the blogger directly. However, from my guess, I’d say (with relative certainty, but only guessing), that it’s 1/4 TEASPOON salt, and probably mixed in when the powdered sugar is in step 2. (If you’re not in the US–this is “icing sugar” elsewhere.) Hope this helps!!

Hi Beth! Meaghan is right, it’s a 1/4 teaspoon added in with the sugar. Thanks for finding a typo, I’m on my way back to Serious Eats to fix it! xoxo
