As a foodie with aspirations to write children’s books, the blog entry at “Dog Hill Kitchen” of course caught my eye. The blogger has compiled a list of kid’s books with food, such as classics like “Green Eggs and Ham” to more modern tales like “The Story of Cherry the Pig.” the illustration below, from the blog, was created by the blogger’s husband, whose drawings also appear in “I Wanna Iguana.”
Inspired by the entry, I did some of my own searching, too, and amazon.com has a list of Children’s Books About Food found (including “Blueberries for Sal,” oh, remember “Blueberries for Sal”?). I can of course always share my paper for graduate school on food, consumption and the grotesque in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland, but I’m afraid I’d bore you off the subject.
