There’s something wonderfully silly about serving dessert in a witch’s cauldron—especially when you can eat the cauldron too. These chocolate pudding cups bring together rich chocolate, bright green pudding and a scattering of candy decorations for a Halloween treat that looks right at home beside the pumpkins.
I love the contrast between the dark chocolate shells and the colourful filling. You don’t need elaborate decorations to make the idea work: a few miniature marshmallows suggest bubbling potion, while candy bones add a spooky finishing touch. They’re a fun option for a family Halloween evening or a party dessert table.

Ingredients and materials
- Ready-made edible chocolate dessert cups, or bowl-shaped silicone moulds and melting chocolate
- Prepared vanilla pudding
- Green food colouring
- Mini marshmallows
- Edible candy bones or candy eyes
- Mixing bowl and spoon
- Food-safe brush, if making chocolate shells
Adapted instructions
- Use ready-made chocolate cups, or coat the inside of bowl-shaped silicone moulds with melted chocolate. Allow it to set, then apply another coat to reinforce thin spots.
- Once completely firm, gently peel the moulds away from the chocolate shells.
- Stir a little green food colouring into prepared vanilla pudding until you achieve your preferred potion colour.
- Spoon the chilled pudding into the chocolate bowls, leaving the rims visible.
- Add miniature marshmallows and edible Halloween candies just before serving.
- Keep refrigerated until serving. Assemble close to serving time for the best texture.
For a simpler version, serve the green pudding in small dessert cups and add the same toppings. The bubbling-potion effect is still lovely without making chocolate shells.
