For a dose of food and philosophy (as in, an exploration of praxis and thought, a flashback for me of the oft-used term in graduate school, “dichotomy.” Also oft-used: “dominant ideology” and “Foucault.”), visit “The Salty Cod.” This lovely cake is briefly titled “the perfectly lousy birthday cake,” but the more detailed description is “a chocolate almond flour sponge cake rolled with a swirl of dark chocolate and port ganache to form a pinwheel jellyroll which is then tightly rolled in red marzipan and covered with white marzipan polka dots, all of which is then placed on a raspberry and port syrup reduction.”
Complicated-sounding, but nicely instructed by our blogger, so this gorgeous, spotty cake can be brought to fruition (to action, if you will). Find the recipe, how-to, and philisophical musing here.
