Some Halloween desserts aim to look frightening. This one is far too pretty for that. Ruthanne from EasyBaked turns a brownie into a party tart with colourful mint filling, a dark chocolate glaze and a spiderweb pattern across the top. It has all the fun of decorating for Halloween, with a proper chocolate dessert underneath.
I like that it can sit in the middle of a dessert table as a centrepiece. Cut it into narrow wedges and everyone gets a little of the brownie, mint and chocolate layers. It is a lovely choice when you want something more memorable than another bowl of wrapped sweets.
You can find Ruthanne’s complete spiderweb brownie tart recipe and step-by-step photos at EasyBaked. Her instructions also include a printable recipe, which is handy to have beside you once the decorating begins.
What’s Inside the Spiderweb Brownie Tart?
This is more than a brownie with a web piped on top. Ruthanne bakes a dark brownie base in a tart pan, adds rings of mint filling in Halloween colours, then covers them with chocolate glaze and creates the spiderweb design.
That makes it a good project for someone who enjoys decorating, but it is worth allowing time for the brownie to cool completely. Warm brownie and a carefully arranged filling are not going to be friends.
Tips Before You Start
Put the tart pan on a baking tray. It gives you a steadier way to move the pan while baking and decorating, particularly if it has a removable base.
Let the brownie cool. Give it time before adding the mint layer so the filling holds its shape.
Have your colours ready. This is one of those recipes where setting out the coloured filling and decorating supplies first makes the fun part much less frantic.
Read the full method before using another pan. Ruthanne’s recipe is designed for a 9-inch tart pan. A regular baking pan may work for a more casual version, but it will change the presentation and could change how the brownie bakes.
If you’re building a whole Halloween dessert table, this tart would look lovely alongside some of our Halloween brownies decorating ideas. Our easy Halloween party food ideas can help you plan the savoury bits too, so the guests don’t make dinner entirely out of brownie. No promises, of course.

This is the sort of Halloween baking project I’d make when I have an afternoon to enjoy the decorating. Bring it to the table whole before cutting it. That colourful web deserves its moment.
If you are looking for a yummy tasting boxed brownie mix, because you are short on time or perhaps you are just no Martha Stewart then check out my all-time favourite Brownie box mix. I hold no judgement for anyone who uses boxed mixes. It’s not how you made the brownie, the journey is not important, What matters is the end goal. Which is just eating it.
