Free Printable Witch Hat Bag Toppers for Doritos

October 10, 2026 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

Halloween treat bags don’t always have to be filled with sweets. Sometimes a crunchy, savoury snack is exactly what your party table needs—and these little witch hat Doritos bags are such a fun way to dress one up.

The triangular chips already have a wonderfully witchy shape, so there’s very little work involved in turning them into Halloween favours. Fill a clear bag with Doritos, add a black paper witch hat, and you have a cheerful snack ready for a party, movie night or Halloween gathering.

I love projects like this because they make an ordinary supermarket purchase feel a little more special. There’s no baking, no complicated assembly and no need to buy a long list of decorations. The printable provides the black hat, purple band and gold crescent moon, so you can concentrate on filling and finishing your bags.

Although these are often called candy bag toppers, this version is perfect for a savoury treat. You can use your favourite Doritos flavour or another triangular tortilla chip. The clear bags let the contents become part of the decoration, with the witch hats sitting above them.

About the Free Witch Hat Printable

The printable is designed for A4 paper and includes four fold-over witch hat bag toppers.

Each topper measures approximately 9 cm wide and 6 cm high when folded. The front and back hats join at their tips, with a small bridge that keeps the two pieces connected.

The dotted line marks where to fold. Once folded, the two hats sit back to back, with the broad brims at the bottom. Both sides have a purple band and gold crescent moon, so the bags look lovely from either direction.

Print at 100% or actual size to retain the intended dimensions. Before preparing a whole batch, check that the topper suits the width of your chosen bags.

What You’ll Need

  • Free printable witch hat bag topper sheet
  • White cardstock compatible with your printer
  • Colour printer
  • Scissors
  • Clear food-safe treat bags
  • Doritos or other triangular tortilla chips
  • Bag ties or suitable sealing tape
  • Double-sided tape or a stapler
  • Optional ruler and scoring tool

Cardstock will help the hats stand neatly above the bags. Ordinary paper can work if that’s what you have, but it will be more flexible.

Choose bags that fit comfortably behind the 9 cm brim. Leave enough space above the chips to seal the bag and attach the topper.

How to Make Witch Hat Doritos Treat Bags

1. Print the Hat Toppers

Open the PDF and select A4 paper, portrait orientation and 100% or actual size in your printer settings.

Check the print preview before printing. Avoid automatically enlarging the page, which could move parts of the hats outside the printable area.

Print one sheet first to check the colours and size. Each sheet makes four finished toppers.

2. Cut Around Each Joined Pair

Cut around the outside edge of each double-hat shape.

Keep the two hats connected at the tips. The narrow central bridge is part of the topper, so don’t cut along the dotted fold line.

Take a little extra care around this small join while cutting and handling the pieces.

3. Fold at the Tips

Fold each pair along the short dotted line where the tips meet.

Bring the plain backs together so the printed hats face outwards on both sides. Align the brims and gently press the fold.

If you’re using thicker cardstock, lightly score the fold first with a blunt scoring tool. Avoid pressing hard enough to cut through the bridge.

4. Fill the Treat Bags

Add Doritos to your clear food-safe bags, handling them gently to keep as many chips whole as possible.

Leave room at the top for closing the bag. A slightly loose fill is easier to work with than a tightly packed bag and helps prevent the chips from being crushed during assembly.

For a coordinated party display, try to keep the portions similar.

5. Seal the Bags

Close each bag securely with an appropriate tie or sealing tape before adding the decorative hat.

The paper topper is a decoration, so the bag should hold its contents independently. Flatten or tuck the sealed section so it can sit neatly between the two hat layers.

6. Attach the Witch Hat

Slide the sealed top of the bag between the front and back hats, positioning the brim just above the chips.

Secure the topper with double-sided tape. If you use staples, place them through the empty sealed section, clear of the food compartment.

Check that the hat sits straight and the bag is securely closed before setting it aside.

Tips for Making Several Bags

If you’re preparing Halloween favours for a group, work in stages. Print all your sheets, cut the toppers, fold them, then fill and finish the bags.

Prepare the paper hats ahead of time and fill the snack bags closer to your event. Keep the completed bags sealed and handle them gently so the chips stay crisp and intact.

Retain the original Doritos packaging so ingredient and allergen information is available to anyone who needs it. For school or community events, check the organiser’s requirements before portioning snacks into separate bags.

You can also try the topper over an unopened individual snack packet if its sealed top fits between the hat layers.

Ways to Display Your Halloween Snack Bags

Stand the finished bags in a shallow tray or basket so the witch hats are easy to see. Purple tissue paper or a Halloween napkin underneath can tie the display together.

A small sign reading “Witch Hat Doritos” makes the theme clear without adding more decoration to each bag. They’re lovely beside sandwiches, popcorn and other savoury party food.

These printable witch hat toppers are a simple way to turn an everyday snack into something festive. The purple bands and little gold moons provide the finishing touch, while the Doritos do the rest. Make a few for a Halloween movie night or prepare a whole tray for a party—either way, you’ll have a fun handmade favour without spending the afternoon in the kitchen.
