18+ Halloween Cocktails and Shots So Scary You Won’t Believe They’re Drinkable

October 4, 2021 by Mel

When it comes to throwing a Halloween party, the drinks are just as important as the costumes and the candy. Forget boring old cocktails—this spooky season is all about serving drinks that are creepy, gory, and a little over-the-top in the best way possible. From bubbling witches’ brews and black magic martinis to brain-shaped shots and syringes filled with “blood,” these Halloween cocktails aren’t just beverages—they’re conversation starters.

Whether you’re hosting an adults-only bash, planning a horror movie marathon, or just want something fun to sip on while greeting trick-or-treaters, these drinks will set the mood instantly. Some are spine-chillingly elegant, others are downright grotesque, but all of them are guaranteed to wow your guests. The best part? You don’t need to be a professional mixologist to pull them off—most of these recipes use simple ingredients with a creative (and creepy!) twist.

So, grab your cauldron, a little dry ice for extra drama, and get ready to serve up the most unforgettable drinks of the season. These 18+ Creepy Halloween Cocktails and Shots will take your party from ordinary to eerily epic.

Of course I had to add some adult yums into this too. Would you be able to stomach some of these shots?

Black Magic Shimmering Cocktail – So gothic, so elegant. I had to include this one as all I could picture was Morticia Addams sipping this black vodka drink. Yes, black vodka. Was anyone today years old when they realized it exists? 😮

The Witch’s Heart – Oooh, reminds me of a Purple Haze cocktail. Shape some strawberries into hearts and add a blackberry for a great accent to a delicious drink.

Blood Clot Shots – Okay, we’re getting into the weird/gross side of alcoholic shots. I don’t know if I could do this one, honestly.

Shark Bite Drink – This one is actually pretty cool. Grenadine for blood makes for a pretty interesting looking drink.

Zombie Brains Jello Shots – Gross. Just yuck, lol. Reminds me of caviar a little bit. Very good presentation though, I must say.

Voodoo Punch – Very cool. Again, grenadine inside a syringe for the added voodoo effect. Some people are so creative making these…

Eyeball Jello Shots – As gross as this sounds, I think I could do this one. It’s just gelatin and alcohol right? Please tell me that so I can reassure my brain that I’m not eating eyeballs.

1. Black Widow Martini

Why it Works: Dark, dramatic, and hauntingly beautiful.
Ingredients:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz black raspberry liqueur (Chambord works great)
  • 1 oz cranberry juice
  • ½ oz fresh lime juice
  • Black sugar for rimming the glass
  • Plastic spider for garnish (optional)

How To:
Rim a martini glass with lime juice and dip in black sugar. Shake vodka, raspberry liqueur, cranberry, and lime juice with ice until chilled. Strain into glass and garnish with a spider on the rim for a creepy effect.

2. Zombie’s Kiss Shot

Why it Works: Sweet, scary, and layered like a horror scene.
Ingredients:

  • ½ oz grenadine
  • ½ oz peach schnapps
  • ½ oz blue curaçao
  • Splash of cream

How To:
Pour grenadine into a shot glass first. Carefully layer peach schnapps over the back of a spoon, then blue curaçao, finishing with a thin splash of cream. It will look like blood swirling into something undead.

3. Witch’s Cauldron Punch

Why it Works: Party-perfect, big-batch, and smoky with dry ice.
Ingredients (for 6–8 servings):

  • 1 bottle of sparkling apple cider
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup dark rum
  • ½ cup triple sec
  • Green food coloring (optional for eerie glow)
  • Dry ice for cauldron effect (handle with care!)

How To:
Mix all liquid ingredients in a large punch bowl or cauldron. Add a drop or two of green food coloring until you get your desired spooky look. Right before serving, carefully add a small piece of dry ice to make the punch bubble and smoke like a witch’s brew.
