Valentine’s Day Soft Sugar Cookies

February 12, by Carolyn Bickford. Leave a Comment

valentine's day soft sugar cookies
Since Valentine’s Day is on Sunday, why not make these soft sugar cookies with the whole family. Baked goods and handmade gifts from the heart are a few of my favorite things! Just be thankful you can’t hear me singing right now! It has more meaning than a card and a box of chocolates that a dozen of other people also received. It is going to be below zero this Valentine’s Day, so we might as well as warm up the house and our hearts at the same time.

Click here on PasadenaDaisy for the recipe and directions.

Our basic and quick Sugar Cookie Recipe is perfect for rolled out cookie-cutter cookies, I have been using this recipe for years and it is my go-to recipe for Cookie cutters cookies.

CraftGossip Sugar Cookie Recipe

1 Cup unsalted butter

1 Cup granulated white sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg

2 teaspoons baking powder

3 cups all purpose flour

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350° F.

cream butter and sugar until smooth and light in color

Beat in the extract and egg.

Add the remaining ingredients.

The dough will be stiff and you will need to knead it like a bread dough until in comes together.

Divide into workable batches, roll out onto a floured surface and cut in to rounds 1/4 inch thick.

Bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes. Let cool on the cookie sheet until firm enough to transfer to a cooling rack.
