This sandwich “cake” reminded me immediately of these vintage Party Loaves that I posted on almost two years ago. The same feelings apply (of my conflict between my first corporal response at seeing a sweet vs. the savory tastes that await), but golly gosh, you have to admit that this “Smorgastarta” Swedish sandwich cake from Panini Happy is gorgeously constructed and so very intriguing. Just so colorful and beautifully made with the perfect lunchtime ingredients. Thanks to Amanda for the find!

    The Smorgas-cake is made from the same principles as the smorgasbord (sandwich table): a little of this and a little of that. The layers can be any food that can be eaten cold. Roast beef, shrimp, salmon, caviar, lettuce, salsa, mayonnaise….
