One more check on the list for the legitimacy of sugar as an artistic medium. Apparently sugar is an oft-used tool for glassblowers when creating prototypes for future glass designs. A recent event held in Spain, oh!BCN, celebrated the relationship between glass and gastronomy, during which “several teams of local and international glass artists and designers got together with food experts and chemists to create one collaborative piece that expressed the ‘collective identity’ of Barcelona.” (cited from here) Check out the gallery of images produced from the workshops. Shown is by Christian Escribà.
