One of my favorite signs of spring is the Washington Post Peeps Diorama Contest. This year is the third annual Peeps Show, and for the past two years I kept thinking “next year I’ll enter.” Well, next year I’ll enter. The rules are simple. Make a diorama of a famous occurence, scene, event from past, present or future using Peeps as the characters. Submit photos to the Washington Post by midnight on March 15th. Semifinalists and winners will be published in the Post on Easter Sunday. (I believe they usually feature the top winners at Artomatic, too, a huge indie art event here in DC.) The top 5 finalists must be from the DC metro area (MD and VA count), but anyone from the US can enter. Find all the guidelines here. Shown are some examples from last year. And I will definitely post a link to the finals. Even if you don’t live in the states or the DC area, it’s so inspiring to see the results. Here’s the link to last year’s top 37. And from 2007 here. Shown: “Peep Art” from 2008 and “Peeping Peeps” from 2007.
