Chocolate Peanut Butter Acorns
Tomorrow is the first day of fall. I love fall for the cooler weather and the leaves changing color, but I’m not very fond of what comes after. The acorns are falling off the trees and inspired me to use this creative idea.

Nicole at TikkiDo shows how to take chocolate kisses, mini peanut butter cookies, mini chocolate chips and some icing to create these edible acorns. If you have a peanut allergy, you could substitute the cookie. I know Nilla Wafers has mini cookies. This would be a great craft for the whole family to make together.

I love pecan pie, but sadly my family doesn’t. Kind of the opposite of pumpkin pie situation. This recipe will solve my issue of having to eat a pie all my myself. Or at least make me feel less guilty.

Kristen Duke at Kristen Duke Photography shows us how to take the pecan pie filling and use egg rolls instead of a pie crust. You can also freeze the leftovers, which means pecan pie when you have cravings. And best of all you can eat the pie on the go.

I couldn’t resist  popping over from my usual blog BathnBody to share with you this recipe my daughter I adapted today. We have seen lot’s of recipes for cake mix this and cake mix that but this was our first time in tweaking a recipe. I don’t normally use cake mixes but being able to give my 7 year old the freedom in the kitchen from time to time makes the 70 cent cake mix packets a blessing.

She added to a standard cake mix packet the following ingredients.

2 eggs

1 tsp of Vanilla extract

and 1/2 cup of oil.

Mix all the ingredients together and form into balls. At first we thought the mixture was too oily, but if we had used any less the cookies would have been way to dry. We rolled each cookie ball in some icing sugar and placed in large balls onto our greased tray. We cooked the cookies for around 20 mins on 160′ deg Celsius.  We finished off with a dusting of icing sugar.

You could cook these a little longer for a crunchy cookie or a little less for a soft bake cookie too. My daughter said they were the BEST cookies she had ever tasted but as the chef she was a little biased.

Try them for yourselves…

Still having a hard time to start Halloween posts! I might have to go out to the stores to put me in the mood!

In the meantime, I am happy it is football season and that also means chip and dip season in our household. Averie Sunshine from Averie Cooks has this warm dip that sounds perfect for the cool weather. You take corn and two kinds of cheese. Sounds heavenly, but of course there are other ingredients involved. Perfect for game day or if you like to do some early fall camping. This would be a great treat to have around the fire. Averie even suggests this for a meal. Hmmm? Maybe an appetizer! Give this a try with some leftover corn from the garden or Farmer’s Market.
